News from the SETAC Europe Student Advisory Council: The 3rd Young Environmental Scientists (YES) Meeting 2013 in Krakow, Poland

Jochen Zubrod, SAC chair, Dragan Jevtić, local organizing committee chair and Aupaki Michael Melato, Scientific Committee Chair

The SETAC Europe Student Advisory Council (SAC) aims to support SETAC Europe’s student members with networking and becoming self-confident scientists. To achieve that goal the SAC regularly organizes special student activities. In this regard we now proudly announce the 3rd Young Environmental Scientists (YES) meeting under the motto “Interdisciplinary Discourse on Current Environmental Challenges.” It will take place 11–13 February 2013 in Krakow, Poland. Because the meeting is organized by students for students it will be tailored to the needs of young scientists. No conference fees will be charged and all participants will receive a travel grant. Valery Forbes of the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, USA will give a communication workshop equipping the participants with soft skills necessary for a successful career in science. Three established scientists representing academia, business and government will give career talks providing insights in opportunities as well as challenges associated with different career paths. Finally, a job corner will give the participants the opportunity to get in contact with potential future employers.

Abstract submission will be open soon and the SAC is looking forward to receiving a large number of abstracts from all over the world.
